THERE were several concessions in the second round of Sunday's Wynn Cup, as teams struggled to raise a side, not for the first time. However holders Barrowford did play, entertaining Bingley Congs, who beat them the day before in the league.

The Bull Holme side showed that they are not going to let go of the cup easily though. They batted first and made a healthy 232-9, with Ashir Imdad (92) and Mian Nabeel (59) leading the way as Danny Pearson took 4-31.

The Beckfoot Lane side were never quite in the hunt, although they managed a very creditable 182 thanks to Pearson (85) and Andy Blackburn (33) as Karim Khan took 5-38.

The holders now travel to Long Lee in the next round. The Golden View side saw off Haworth by 30 runs in Bronte Land.

The visitors were greatly indebted to a ninth-wicket partnership of 73 from Ben Stowell (51no) and Dave Collins (32no) for getting them to 173-8 as Will Yildiz claimed 3-32.

In the reply of 143-8, Peter Gower made 50 as Shahbaz Ahmed claimed a fine 3-22.

The top half of the draw saw Oakworth and Haworth Road make progress to the third round when Wilsden and Thornton conceded. The pair meet at Cure Hill.

In the bottom half of the draw, Embsay travelled to Sutton and put their league form behind them as they cantered to victory by nine wickets.

The Royd Hill side made 139-8 with Sam Solley (45) leading the way, as Eliott Stockton took 5-49. David Wellock (67no) and Ben Keane (29) put on 93 for the first wicket before Stockton (27no) joined the former to set up the victory.

The Shires Lane side will entertain Ingrow in the next round after they demolished Riddlesden by 166 runs. Ben Pursey made a super 108 to set up the Hainworth side's 231-8, with Dan Kernan taking 3-24.

The Grange Road side proceeded to crumple to 65 all out after being 23-8. Will Rankin bowled expertly to finish with 5-11.

The final pairing will be Hepworth & Idle v Foulridge. The former received a bye when Chatburn were unable to raise a side.

Meanwhile, the Noyna side blasted 259 off visitors Sandy Lane’s attack with Zain Abbas (68) and Asrar Sarwar (64) leading the way. Jawad Ali bowled well to finish with 6-52.

The Greenwood Park side replied with 167, led by Abid Sharif (48), as Ummar Farooq took 5-28 and Shabaz Munir 4-56.

The third round draw is as follows: Oakworth v Haworth Road, Long Lee v Barrowford, Embsay v Ingrow and Hepworth & Idle v Foulridge. Matches to be played on Sunday June 24.
