IT WAS a week of shocks in Division One of the Bradford and District Evening League as Ciroc, Crossflatts and Shelf all lost their 100 per cent records.

The biggest upset came at Denholme where pre-season favourites and defending champions Ciroc lost by four wickets.

Skipper Mushy Shah (35no) and opener Kez Ahmed (31) looked to have set up a third win of the season for the visitors as they made 126-7 from their 16 overs, with Nathan Storton (4-23) the pick of the bowlers.

Denholme needed 28 from the final three overs with only four wickets in hand but man of the match Storton stepped up with 32no from 13 balls to give Denholme the points with 10 balls to spare.

Crossflatts went down by eight wickets at local rivals Thornton. Mohammed Shahnawaz continued his fine start to the season and was again top scorer with 39 out of 115-7 (Alex Bradbury also making 24no), with Josh Hutchinson taking 3-34.

Nikki Hutchinson (43no), Josh Hutchinson (39) and Ross Carnall (27no) then went to work as Thornton comfortably reached their victory target with 4.1 overs to spare.

Shelf could only manage 99-8 at John Breare (Younis Bismil 47, Tom Westerman 4-20), but should have got more as they lost five wickets for four runs in the 80s.

Chris Coates (50no) and Matthew Tinsley (21) shone as an opening partnership of 61 put the Westfield Lane side well on the way to victory, which they achieved from 12.5 overs finishing on 100-1.

Raja’s came unstuck at the Karmand Centre against Greenfield as all Division One games went the way of home sides.

Despite the best efforts of Mohammed Saqib (40), Raja’s could only post 94-6 as Mohammed Nadeem took 3-24. In reply, Greenfield were 95-4 with opener Danish Hussain making 40.

Division Two outfit Undercliffe now remain the only team with a 100 per cent record as they overcame fellow Bradford Leaguers Buttershaw St Paul’s at Intake Road.

Buttershaw posted a very competitive 135-3 as last season’s league batting winner Kevin McDermott achieved his first retirement of the new campaign (51no), ably assisted by Elliot Richardson (29), Jordan Laban (28) and Pritesh Lad (24).

However, Fahid Rehman’s 52no with further contributions from Luke Holroyd (29) and overseas Khalid Usman (26no) saw Undercliffe home on 137-4, with James Sawyer taking 3-16.

Great Horton Park Chapel’s hard-hitting Baildon overseas player Blair Oakley (50no) recorded his second retirement in as many weeks as he and Ryan Frankland-Martin (43no) helped Park Chapel chase down Azeems' 111 all out (Muhammad Qadeer 39, Shokit Ali 25 and Adam Beesley 4-27) for the loss of just one wicket.

Bradshaw recorded their first victory as they were the only side to defend a first innings score and therefore win away from home as they beat Cross Roads and Daisy Hill at Windhill.

Chris Dennison’s 50no helped the visitors to 110-6 as Josh Butterfield took 3-22. In reply, the Windhill side ended 15 runs short of their target on 95-7 (Adam Swaine 31, Ben Dickens 4-12).

Muff Field are still looking for their first victory as they succumbed to fellow new boys Ingrow, who recorded their first Evening League win and remain unbeaten as their previous two games were victims of the weather.

The visitors were restricted to 71-8 thanks mainly to youngster Jake Exley’s 3-11. Ben Weatherall (51no) made sure there were no mistakes as the Hainworth Lane side ended on 72-2.
