ECCLESHILL United manager Sean Regan did not have the energy to party on Saturday night after his team had won promotion to the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

The Eagles, who have had an incredible end to the season, repeated their semi-final heroics by scoring late in normal time to force extra-time and then triumphing in the additional half-hour.

Last Wednesday they beat Shirebrook Town 4-2 at home in the semi-finals and needed an 89th-minute leveller from Chris Lever before goals followed from Tom Rose and Antony Brown.

At the weekend, Andy Cooper scored from the spot to force the extra 30 minutes, and Luke Harrop got the winner in the 105th minute in a 3-2 win at Grimsby Borough.

"I have never been through so many ups and downs in a game in my life," admitted Regan.

"We lost Scott Manning with a broken tibia and fibula against Borough, and Matt Mathers played for most of the game with a fractured cheekbone, but the referee should have got a grip on things earlier in the match and then maybe those things would not have happened."

Regan added: "The lads were partying until about six yesterday morning, but I just went home to bed because my daughter Chantelle was moving house that day and we are also moving house soon."

After moving to the club two-and-a-half years ago, Regan decided to make the Eagles as local a club as possible, and their togetherness and team spirit has paid off this season.

Regan said: "After losing at home to Yorkshire Amateur to lose our automatic promotion slot and then being behind late on against both Shirebrook Town and Grimsby Borough, the lads have been through so much but have come through."
