YORKSHIRE Amateur League Premier Division champions Drighlington and third-placed visitors Leeds Medics & Dentists played out a soulless as much as a goalless draw.

The match was not only played at a slow pace but neither of the two exhausted teams could provide much in the way of goalmouth incidents.

Athletico, who have been a breath of fresh air in the top flight, won 3-2 courtesy of Mohammed Qasim (2) and Hassan Khan at Grangefield Old Boys on what was a shocking pitch.

In-form Farsley Celtic Juniors won 2-0 at Stanningley Old Boys to end an injury-hit campaign in sixth place, having won the title for the previous two seasons.

The goals came from skipper Louis Surtees in the 20th minute and Josh Maskill 12 minutes later.

In the Championship Division, a strong St Bede's team defeated Beeston St Anthony's 4-0, with the visitors weakened by two cup runs and a busy end of season.

Bede's led after 10 minutes when a ball down the right channel found Adeeb Jawad, who brushed off a defender and hammered the ball home at the near post.

With Tawheed Ahmed tormenting the Beeston defence, Bede's notched a second after Tahir Akram pressure at the far post following a Johnny Townsend corner, and the third came shortly afterwards when Ahmed beat four players before putting the chance on a plate for James Gilmartin to tap in from three-and-a-half yards.

The fourth came from a mishit Jawad shot but, having used up two of their three substitutes by half-time, Bede's conserved ebergy in a non-event of a second half.

Idle, for whom promotion is still a possibility in Division One, returned to winning ways with a 4-0 home scoreline against Collegians and can finish no lower than third.

Looking good going forward, their goals came from Aaron Irving (2), Carl Dawson and Tom Simonett, with Conor Halligan being man of the match.

Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves have had a great second half of the season, climbing from the bottom of the table to seventh, but it ended with a blip in an 11-1 home defeat to Leeds City Old Boys who thus notched their 11th straight win.

In Division Two, hit-and-miss Fairbank United put the cat among the promotion pigeons with an outstanding 4-2 home victory over leaders Garforth Crusaders.

The latter went ahead after ten minutes following a defensive blunder but United equalised midway through the half via Faris Hussain after Hussain Iqbal's 50-50 challenge with the keeper led to the ball spilling free.

Fairbank took the lead minutes later via Shoaib Hussain, who won an aerial duel before netting, but Garforth's leveller was controversial as the ball appeared to be kicked out of Fairbank's keeper's hands.

Talented United channelled their anger via Junaid Ali's exquisite goal, and they wrapped things up when Shoaib Hussain was upended in the box and Bilal Saleem scored the penalty.

Much-improved Dewsbury Rangers Reserves tested newcomers Calverley United Reserves in Division Four but lost 3-2 to goals by Dale Venables, Joe Thorpe and Sam Wathen.

Rangers finished tenth and Calverley ninth, but the latter were ten points better off.

Champions and Hodgson Cup winners Leeds City Old Boys Thirds won 7-1 at fading Drighlington Reserves, whose goal came from Johnny Lakin.

Prospect, who won 3-1 at Gildersome Spurs Old Boys, finished second.

Goals came from Dave Carrigan, Jordon Farrell and Joe Keen against Spurs, who were third.

St Bede's led 2-0 at Shire Academics Thirds in Division Five but had to settle for a 3-3 draw.

Bede's led via Mick Dougan and Tom Mozley and were pegged back to 2-2 before Andy Cousen put them ahead again, only for Shire to take a deserved point.

Thwe old boys will drop to fourth if Tyersal Reserves take four points from their last three games.
