WALSALL are on the brink of securing their League One status for another year.

But boss Dean Keates has warned them not to start celebrating safety just yet.

Another point will make absolutely sure that Rochdale, who currently occupy the final relegation spot, cannot catch them.

The Saddlers virtually clinched survival, condemning Northampton to the drop in the process, when George Dobson scored a stoppage-time winner on Saturday.

And Keates wants that secured at Valley Parade tonight to avoid any nerves on the last day.

He said: “Since the lads have been here, they’ve given everything.

“Everyone knew what the game was about and what was at stake.

“The emotions were sky high after Northampton and we’ve got to bring them back down to earth because we’ve got a massive game at Bradford.

"It’s our game in hand and come 10pm, we can be a guaranteed League One football club.

“That is what we are looking to do. It’s another big game so I have got to bring the players back down because it's nowhere near done.

"It’s my job to let reality kick back in. We will make sure we are ready for Bradford."

Saturday was Walsall’s second win in seven games since Keates left Wrexham to take charge in mid-March.

Match-winner Dobson struggled to put his excitement into words after striking the winner. And he is also determined to get the job done in West Yorkshire.

Dobson said: “It was indescribable how brilliant a feeling it was. But that was then and this is now.

“We are going to fight to get that point at Bradford to make sure we don’t go to Fleetwood needing a result.”

Walsall have won only once away from the Banks’s Stadium since November – when they beat Southend 3-0 in March. But they sacked Jon Whitney just over a week later.
