WELL we have an exciting game today, one which I am looking forward to immensely.

It’s a free hit for us really; I think it’s the only time this season when the expectation will be heaped heavily on the opposition and I am really looking forward to the preparation and the performance at Warrington.

It’s great opportunity for our players to play in great stadium in front of a big crowd.

I think the Halliwell Jones is a great stadium with a fantastic playing surface and there should be a really good crowd in attendance.

I know we have sold a lot of tickets and, as it’s a big game, it’s really captured the supporter’s imagination.

When you start to reach the latter stages of the Challenge Cup – the real big boys from last year’s Super League Top Eight come in at the next stage - then a victory in this round could mean you could be playing another real high-profile team like Warrington and to achieve that would be great for the club.

Last week I was delighted with the result and the performance against Coventry. I felt we showed great discipline.

The Workington game was the first time we have lost the penalty count and we were back to winning it against the Bears. We also showed great discipline with the ball and finished off our sets very well. Defensively I thought we got our mojo back too because in Cumbria we were happy – defensively - just stopping them but last Sunday we dominated them. There is a subtle difference but it makes a huge difference to the ebb and flow of the game.

I thought Coventry did really well against us last week.

Tom Tsang, who is a really good, young British coach, prepared them very well.

They only made five errors in the 80 minutes and that made it even more difficult for us.

That’s why I am so pleased with how we played.

They made few errors, looked after the ball and yet we still put 50 points on them.

Their try came from a slip by our full back, a strange bounce of the ball and they were in support and finished it very well. It wasn’t one where you thought our defensive structures were at fault.

It was just as the result of a kick.

The weather seems to be picking up and it was nice to get back to Odsal last week and it will be nice to train on grass, rather than the 3G and 4G surfaces we have used since the season started.

The club has provided us with great training facilities and I am very grateful for that, but it will be nice to get back onto a more normal track, both at our training base at Tong and at Odsal, so we can get the feel of firm grass under our feet again rather than the saturated stuff we’ve had up until now.

Last weekend saw the opening of the Women’s Super League.

It was great that over 3,000 people came to watch the first team against Coventry and a lot of them stayed on to watch the Women’s game.

Leeds came away with the victory and, in my view, they were the better team, so there is a lot of work for the Ladies and their coaching staff to do as the season gains momentum.
