GREGG McNally is confident he’ll be up for the cup as he plots his Bulls return against Warrington.

The former Leigh full back has missed the last two games with a quad injury he suffered in the last round while kicking at goal against Hunslet.

But McNally is ready to declare himself ready for action in time for Saturday’s hotly-anticipated fifth-round clash at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

His big-game knowhow will be a key asset for John Kear’s side, who are already without the suspended Dane Chisholm against the Super League hosts.

Kear said: “We’re hoping he’ll be available again. That’s the game Gregg and the medical staff have targeted and there have been no setbacks so far.

“He should return to 100 per cent full speed running with change of direction. If he handles that hopefully he’ll be back.”

McNally’s return at full back would free Brandon Pickersgill for a possible switch to the halves to cover the absent Chisholm.

But Kear may sway towards the greater experience of Elliot Minchella to partner Joe Keyes.

Minchella was held back in the Coventry game and only came on for the last 20 minutes – but still scored the pick of the ten Bulls tries with a 60-metre dash.

Kear revealed it was a deliberate ploy to give the versatile 22-year-old a breather.

He added: “Elliot has had lots of game time and played a lot of rugby league lately.

“I was going to keep him back and told him before the game that he would only get 20 or 30 minutes.

“He got his 20-minute cameo – and got his try. I thought he was very good.

“With Dane out, it will give somebody else an opportunity and we will debate whether to play him at half or Brandon because McNally is going to be back.

“We’ll come up with what we feel is the best plan to challenge Warrington.”
