BULLS captain Lee Smith praised his side’s complete performance in their recent League fixture as they downed local rivals Keighley Cougars 54-6.

Bradford showed their champion credentials as they made it three wins from three showing exceptional attack that matched their resolute efforts in defence.

Smith praised the efforts of the Bull’s forward pack including blockbusting efforts from Steve Crossley and Callum Bustin, alongside debutant George Flanagan who crossed twice.

“The lad’s went really well against Keighley, especially in the first half we controlled the game and took the energy out of them.” said Smith.

“In the second half the game became scrappy, yet we managed to continue our game and keep our heads to produce a convincing victory.”

“The forward pack were immense, it’s so important for us to play off the back of them which is made easy when players like Callum (Bustin) and Steve (Crossley) have a game like they did.”

“I was really pleased for George (Flanagan), scoring with his first touch was great, he never takes a backwards step in the middle of the park, he’ll add more experience and bring a lot to the side.”

“Brandon (Pickersgill) and Joe (Keyes) lead us around the pitch, created chances, and set the tone for the game, but all across the pitch I was impressed it was a great performance from the team.”

“We’re all really confident at the moment, I think that’s shining through, there are still some things to learn and work out but we’re in a good spot at the moment”

“We’re a tight-knit group, we have standards to match and Sunday was a great example of that, you play your best rugby when you’re happy and that was certainly the case against Keighley.”

Taking a break from the League 1 action, Bradford go up against Hunslet in the Challenge Cup with Smith being a local of the area expectations are high for the clash.

“I expect it to be a rough and tough game, they’re going to want to knock us off, and we’re both unbeaten in the league so it makes for a nice tie,” said Smith

“They’ll challenge us definitely, it’s a cup game so they’ll be looking to pass the ball around as the pressure is lifted a little”

“When I was younger I was coached by Gary Thornton as I was coming through the ranks, so there’s a lot of respect for him there alongside the team.”

“Playing them twice in two weeks we might see a different type of performance in the league, but it’s a challenge I know we’re all looking forward to and hopefully we can make it into the next round.”
