THREE quarter-final places in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup and Challenge Trophy were up for grabs by West Riding County Amateur League teams – and two in each competition were claimed.

Campion Reserves and Golcar United progressed in the Challenge Cup and Ovenden West Riding and Salts Reserves in the Challenge Trophy.

Postponed games between Steeton and Salts in the Challenge Cup and Overthorpe Sports Club against Prince of Wales (Ossett) in the Challenge Trophy will be played next Saturday.

Campion made the short trip to Elland to play West Yorkshire League Premier Division side Huddersfield Amateurs in the Challenge Cup and found themselves a goal adrift to a Nat Jackson strike at half-time.

However, an inspired second-half substitution by Campion, bringing on 17-year-old Spencer Gordon, paid dividends.

Gordon provided Jahro Parchment with the ball to equalise and then his cross was turned into his own goal by a defender to give Campion a 2-1 victory.

Huddersfield-based Golcar extended their unbeaten run to 15 games in all competitions with a 7-2 home victory against Halifax League side Greetland.

Callum Meade led the way with a treble, while Alex Hallam, Josh Lang, Richard Kettlewell and Michael Tunnacliffe added the other goals. Karl Jowett and Tom Wall replied for Greetland.

Prolific Ovenden West Riding goal-scorer John Booth took his tally to 43 this season with five in his side's 10-4 home win against Huddersfield side Berry Brow in the Challenge Trophy.

Damian Randall (2), Mathew Jones, Glynne Beale and Hayden Kerris netted the others, with former Huddersfield Town striker John McAliskey (2), Wayne Shooter and Ben Dobson replying.

Salts Reserves made sure of their place when, after being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Ilkley Town Reserves, they won the penalty shoot-out 5-4.

Route One Rovers failed to take advantage of Golcar United playing in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup.

They had the chance to move up to second behind leaders Salts in the Premier Division but stayed third after being held to a 3-3 draw at home by Littletown.

Awais Khan (2) and Hasan Ali were on target for Rovers, while Joe Jagger (2) and Aiden Schofield replied.

Lower Hopton – last season's Premier Division champions – welcomed back Nathan James, one of their successful players from 2016-17.

He marked his re-signing with a hat-trick in Hopton's 5-1 success at Thornton United. Danny Ryan and Dale Hanson were also on target for Hopton, with Josh Ludford replying.

Wibsey took full advantage of visitors DRAM Community having three players sent off to register a 7-2 win – their highest league victory of the season so far.

Lee Smith and Simon Sewell both netted three times, with Jonathon Burston also on target, while Brandon Smith and Ryan O'Hara responded.

Only one game was possible in Division One, with West Horton beating TVR United 3-2.

Ryan Sanson, Hamza Kahn and Sajad Ali scored for West Horton, with Danny Hussain and Asid Khan on target in reply.
