CITY have tonight rewarded Tyrell Robinson’s exciting first season with a longer-term contract.

Robinson has signed a new two-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him at Valley Parade until the summer of 2020.

The contract will also fend off strong competition with other clubs circling for the 20-year-old.

Robinson has played 14 games for City with eight starts and grabbed the headlines with winning goals against Wigan and Rochdale.

Chairman Edin Rahic said: “It was a no-brainer to extend the contract. What he has shown is really positive.

“We wanted to respect what he has done and reward that by taking him to the next level.

“With the way he’s played the last games, it’s obvious that other clubs have shown an interest informally.

“But that’s not why we have signed him. We have seen his brilliant development.

“He can do more now if he wants to be a real starter for every game. He can’t stop the hard work – that’s the message for him.”
