SHREWSBURY boss Paul Hurst will not press the panic button against City after their loss at bottom club Bury.

The Shakers produced the shock result of the week by beating the table-topping Shrews 1-0.

The victory, which came thanks to a goal from former Bantams left back Greg Leigh, summed up the unpredictably of League One.

Town's rise to the summit, having been pre-season favourites for the drop, has been as hard to foresee as anything.

Despite Tuesday's defeat, Shrewsbury remain top by a point over Wigan and Hurst wants his side to return to their winning habit.

Speaking after the Bury game, he said: "For all of the praise we got on Saturday (after their win over Rotherham), that fell short of what we wanted.

"We huffed and puffed, had one decent effort saved, and flattered to deceive really.

"We're not going to suddenly panic and think that's the end of the season. There's a long way to go.

"We've been full of praise and surprising people. We'll try and do that on Saturday again at home.

"What I do question overall is whether we have got that mentality that's needed because, take nothing away from Bury, but they've clearly not been in the best form."

Hurst's arrival following his move from Grimsby Town over 12 months ago has transformed the Shropshire club.

They were bottom of the table but he guided them to safety before their fantastic start to the current campaign, which has seen them beaten only twice in the league and yet to lose at home.

For the second successive game, Hurst will be without captain Abu Ogogo in midfield as he is serving a three-match ban for being sent off at Rotherham.

Town were also without winger Alex Rodman on Tuesday as Hurst, who had been linked with a move to Sunderland, felt his squad already being stretched.

"We have to keep our fingers crossed we don't suffer too many injuries and suspensions until January," he said.

"Then we have got a decision to make realistically about what we have to do in order to maintain still being in a very good position in the league. We have got a limited squad."
