ECCLESHILL United boss Sean Regan heaped praise on his squad this week as they continue to plough the rich vein of form they have discovered.

Last weekend's 3-0 league victory at Retford United was their seventh on the trot and their 13th from the last 14 Toolstation Northern Counties East League fixtures.

They have had defeats in cup competitions during that run but points make prizes and promotion is the club's aim.

The Eagles took just four points from the first five Division One games of the season but then beat local rivals Campion 3-1 at home in the final match of August.

Regan said: "We never looked back after the Campion game and the only league game we've lost since was against Winterton Rangers back at the start of October.

"We've won all our other league games and I think that just shows how far we've come with it. We've had injuries and suspensions to cope with and we've had tough games that we've had to battle to get something from.

"But when we've been a bit off the boil in certain games, we've got the players in at half-time and told them that we can win these games. We've said 'come on, we can beat these' and the lads have ground out the result for us. Apart from Winterton, we've got three points from every game."

Regan added: "We had a busy period in October, and we've got another one now, but the group of lads that we've got here can cope with that. They have done it already and that just adds to the confidence within the squad.

"It was a good win against Rossington a week last Saturday and it put us level on points with second-placed Yorkshire Amateurs – and they're in the automatic play-off places.

"The lads enjoyed that win but the day after I said 'right, you've had your party time, now it's time to go again' and we got exactly the same result at Retford United last Saturday, another three goals and another clean sheet."
