Gareth Green then put Bradford 3-1 up with two solid frames against Dave Ford, winning the first 71-16 and the second 82-17, which included a break of 66.

Josh Walker faced Peter Bardsley in the last match and was in fine form, a break of 38 being the highlight in taking the first frame 108-34.

He then set off well in the next with a break of 32 and although Bardsley struck straight back with a run of 35, Walker cleared with a 32 to win 66-51 and wrap up an excellent victory for the Bradford team.

Billiards league action saw Bradford start the season with an 8-6 victory away to last season's runners-up Harrogate.

A break of 44 from Wilman edged him back in front but Crosland got over the line for a 200-177 victory and a 3-2 lead for the home side.

Bradford captain Stephen Kershaw saw breaks of 39 and 33 give him a resounding 200-102 win over Tom Halliday and a 5-4 lead for his side.

Then, despite Harrogate player Dave Atkinson making a break of 37, Paul Devitt completed a 200-163 success to ensure overall victory for the Bradford team.
