The Bulls have suffered a huge blow with luckless Jamie Langley being ruled out for the rest of the season.

The influential back-rower, who made a try-scoring debut for Great Britain last month, underwent surgery on a serious wrist injury this morning.

Langley now faces three months on the sidelines meaning he will miss the club's push for Grand Final and Challenge Cup glory as well as Great Britain's Test series with New Zealand this autumn.

He was absent from Saturday's loss at Salford with a shoulder problem picked up against St Helens ten days ago but it is a previous wrist knock that has seen him go under the knife.

Langley originally pulled up during the win at Leeds on June 29 but battled the pain in recent weeks until a specialist decided an operation was the only course of action.

Boss Steve McNamara is cursing his side's luck after the 23 year-old became the THIRD Bulls back-rower to be crocked by a wrist injury this season.

Chris McKenna missed the start of the year having had a similar op while England ace Matt Cook has sat out the last nine weeks with a break.

Ironically, though, with Langley now laid up, Cook is fit and available to return against St Helens in Saturday's crunch Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final.

Langley has been dogged by niggles this season having already sat out five games due to hamstring and calf tears but the talented forward was primed to finish the campaign strongly and bolster the Bulls' bid for silverware as well as his own international ambitions.

McNamara admitted: "We've had a bit of a frustrating year with injuries and none more frustrating than this one.

"It's at a critical stage of the season and Jamie's loss is not only a big one for the team but for him personally as well.

"Hopefully he'd be featuring in a final and a Grand Final series, as well as Great Britain coming up at the end of the year, and it is unfortunate.

"It's unlucky to get one wrist injury a season but for us to have three players is very unlucky too but we'll press on and wish him a speedy recovery."

Meanwhile, holders St Helens are sweating over the availability of former Great Britain hooker Keiron Cunningham for Saturday's clash.

The veteran number nine, who appeared in his first Challenge Cup final at Wembley 11 years ago, has been ordered to appear before the RFL's disciplinary committee in Leeds tomorrow on a charge of striking.

Cunningham was placed on report for what appeared to be a swinging arm on Wigan full-back Pat Richards during Friday's 19-12 engage Super League victory at Knowsley Road.

The RFL's video review panel today decided he had a case to answer and any ban would see Saints' inspirational pivot miss the last four contest with Bradford.
