CITY OF BRADFORD swimmers produced outstanding performances at the Swim England North East Age Group Championships.

Cameron Green, aged 12, took home ten regional titles and 11 club records, one of which was Andrew Belton's 200m breaststroke record of 2.50.54, which had stood since 1993. Cameron smashed it with a time of 2.38.30.

His gold medals came from performances in the 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle, 50m and 200m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and butterfly and 100m, 200m and 400m individual medley.

Ten titles weren't enough for Cameron as he continued to grab silver medals in the 100m backstroke, 100m and 200m butterfly and a bronze in the 200m backstroke.

In the girls events, 12-year-old Hermione Roe was again in medal-winning form and claimed regional titles in the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke, 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle, 50m and 100m butterfly and 100m and 200m individual medley.

Six of her swims were club records, one of which was former international swimmer Sian Morgan's record of 1.07.28 in the 100m butterfly. Hermione finished well inside of Morgan's record time with 1.06.67.

Another City medal winner was 12-year-old Sophia Basabara who finished third in the 100m and 200m backstroke. Sophie also placed fourth in the 50m event.

Other top ten Bradford finishers were Simran Kaur Mander and Gracie Beaumont.

Meanwhile, Brendan Watson and Omar Hussain competed in multiple events at the National Masters Short Course Championship at Sheffield.

Hussain, swimming in the 30/34 years age group, had the highest place finishes in both the 200m butterfly and 400m freestyle when he finished in fourth place in times of 2.24.21 and 4.35.91 respectively. He also claimed sixth place in the 200m freestyle and 12fth in the 100m butterfly.

Watson, swimming in the 25/29 years age group, had his highest place finish of seventh in 100m backstroke in a time of 1.05.17 and then claimed tenth in the 200m individual medley. His final swim in the 100m freestyle gave him a top 20 finish.

* Swimming as juniors in the North East Region Senior and Junior Long Course Championships, Archie Minto and Archie Dunne led the City of Bradford charge, each claiming bronze medals in their respective butterfly events.

Minto broke his own 13/14 yrs club record in the 200m event with a new best of 2.20.63. His other two top ten finishes came in the 50m and 100m butterfly and he had a further top 20 finishes in the 50m and 100m freestyle.

Dunne’s bronze came in the 50m butterfly in a time of 27.96. He also placed fourth in the 50m freestyle and ninth in the 50m breaststroke. Top 20 places followed in the 100m freestyle and butterfly and 200m individual medley.

Also in record-breaking form was junior Cameron Mander, who broke the 13/14 years 100m breaststroke club record which had stood since 2007 to finish in fourth place in a time of 1.13.40. His time of 33.61 in the 50m event also secured him a top ten finish.
