KEIGHLEY Cougars have announced that second-row forward Emmerson Whittel has re-signed for the club.
Whittel is currently recovering from an ACL injury which happened in July's 92-6 home victory over Oxford RL, but has agreed a new deal with Keighley.
He will continue his rehabilitation at Cougars and is looking forward to get back to full training and playing in the late 2018 or 2019 season.
Joining ahead of this year's campaign from the University of Gloucestershire All Golds, Whittel impressed coach Craig Lingard after scoring the winning try in his debut against Doncaster RL.
The following week, Whittel received a broken jaw in the Challenge Cup victory against Fryston Warriors. He made a further nine appearances before sustaining his current injury.
Whittel is excited about continuing to be a part of the club. He tweeted: "Absolutely chuffed to bits to have signed for @cougarmania for two years. Long and hard road to recovery but it will fly by.
"The atmosphere the fans create was a big factor in signing. Big up the club for sticking by me, it will pay off."
