Farsley's impressive pre-season rumbles on after another victory yesterday against a Football League outfit which brought a clean sheet and saw two of the main strikers hitting the target.

There was a goal in each half for the Celts but it was a game that could easily have had a different outcome.

Grimsby were up for the match, and had they kept their first half team on the park they possibly would have won it.

"It was a tale of two halves," said Celts boss Lee Sinnott. "We were given a footballing lesson in the first half. I made a point of saying that to Alan Buckley (the Grimsby manager) as we left the field.

"It was another win but I have always said that I look further than the result. The important thing is that we are progressing and learning from the process.

"I'm glad we went through that first 45 minutes. "It was better than any coaching, long speech or even DVD I could have shown our players.

"They had to experience being against the ropes and they certainly were.

"In the second half the game lost its fluency but that is bound to happen in pre-season games."

Tristram Whitman broke the deadlock a little over four minutes from the break with an excellent shot after a quick turn on the edge of the area. The second was also from open play, Ryan Sugden stooped to meet a cross and head home from 14 yards.
