PAUL Cox will not hesitate to bring in further new signings as his Guiseley side continues to be hit by injuries.

The Lions, who face a tough away test at Woking, currently have ten players sidelined as they strive to stave off the threat of relegation from the Vanarama National League.

Midfieldman Will Hatfield became the latest casualty when he suffered a groin strain in last Saturday’s 4-2 home win over Solihull Moors.

Skipper Danny Lowe, Rob Atkinson, James Wesolowski, Alex Purver, Elliot Green, Danny East, Marcus Williams, Callum McFadzean and on-loan striker Raul Correia are the other crocks.

East will not play again this season after damaging his cruciate ligament.

Cox has brought in eight new players since taking charge last month and insists he needed to do so to improve both the size and the strength of his squad.

One of those recruits, on-loan left back Lewis Freestone, has been allowed to return to Peterborough, but more could soon be on the way.

“I have to do what is right for the club and I will do what it takes to get us out of the position we are in right now.

“People might think that the number of new players is high, but so is the number of injuries. Just look at who are sitting on the sidelines at the moment.

“Without the signings it is doubtful that we would have had enough men to fill the substitutes bench.

“Our four young professionals, Will Wells, George Gomersall, Scott Smith and Curtis Morrison are all out on loan getting valuable game time which is important to their development.”

Despite the lengthy injury list, Guiseley have shown an improvement under Cox and have lost just twice in ten league and cup games.
