ELLIE Olds was on the scoresheet again as Bradford City Women denied Huddersfield Town the chance to go second in the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division.

It was Olds' second equaliser in two days after her goal at Brighouse Town in Sunday's first-round West Riding County Cup tie, which the Bantams won on penalties.

This time the midfielder's effort proved key to securing a point as City held high-flying Town to a 1-1 draw.

She said: "I don't know how it happened really. I just pop up and it goes in – but it's always nice to score.

"On Sunday we were all disappointed with the performance, especially in the second half. But today, I don't think we could have done any more, so it was a bit frustrating.

"As our rivals, it's annoying seeing them at the top, so it's good to stop them winning to go second. We definitely needed the point as well. We couldn't lose."

Just as against Brighouse on Sunday, Bradford were slow to start as Huddersfield took the lead midway through the first half.

The Terriers had already forced three goalline clearances from City's defence and a good save from goalkeeper Nat Saunders by the time former Bantams player Hannah Campbell pounced on a sloppy back-pass to make it 1-0.

But the hosts produced a good response, with two powerful efforts from Ellie White saved before Charlotte Stuart's header was cleared off the post.

Abi Housecroft had City's best chance yet when she dragged wide from Zoe Roberts' cross early in the second period, before Olds entered the fray and equalised on the hour.

Housecroft was the creator, powering past her marker on the right and drilling the ball across the face of goal, where the substitute was waiting to tap home.

Both teams had chances to win it, with Elford's perhaps the best as she fired a shot just past the post from a corner. Instead it was spoils shared once more and yet another draw for City – their third in a row.

"I don't think the result reflects our performance at all," said defender Paige Crosby.

"We gave 110 per cent through everything but the result just didn't come. Any other day, that ball would go in and we'd win it, but it just wasn't our day again."

The positives are that City are again proving tough to beat, with just one defeat in their last six outings.

That loss came at the hands of Derby County, who they visit on Sunday in the FA Women's Premier League Cup.

Crosby is keen to get revenge over the Rams, believing that a win is around the corner if the hard work continues.

"We're not losing, we're just not winning – but that will come," she said.

"We'll take what we've done today and we'll take it to Derby, because we definitely owe them one. We just need to put the same effort in again and it will come off."
