ANDREW Chalmers insists the Bulls are not after any favours in the long haul to get back to Super League.

The club are preparing for their first stint in the third tier next season – with the aim of winning instant promotion to the Championship undefeated.

The long-term goal remains a return to the top flight and joint-chairman Chalmers wants that to be won on the field, rather than looking to be fast-tracked on the back of their reputation.

He said: "We need to earn our place in the right competition. We think that should be in Super League but we need to earn our place.

"We don't want anything given to us. That's why we'll cop what we've got and get on with moving the organisation forward. We've got to get on with it.

"Everything is a cycle. It is what it is and I don't want to be one of those clubs who whinge that we should have this or that.

"It's a new dawn in terms of everything. We started in difficult circumstances and we're at the bottom but we've got a clear plan on navigating our way forward."

Huddersfield forward Mikey Wood became the 20th recruit for 2018 when he was announced on a year-long loan. Another signing is set to follow in the next couple of days.

Chalmers sees the squad currently being assembled as a statement of intent and said: "We've selected a team to get us out of League One.

"We aim to be ultra competitive in League One or the Championship and we're going to push in the Challenge Cup.

"We're satisfied with the quality of the players and the mix and the fit and there will be more to come."
