BURNLEY striker Chris Wood grabbed a point against West Ham but was left frustrated his side were not able to bag all three against the ten-man Hammers.

The Clarets fell behind to Michail Antonio's 19th-minute effort, gifted to the visitors after errors from Ben Mee and Nick Pope, and only equalised with five minutes left on the clock.

Wood was the man to get the job done five minutes from time, netting for the fourth time since his £15million move from Leeds.

Yet Andy Carroll's senseless sending-off had appeared to open the door for a Burnley victory as West Ham were forced to play for more than an hour with a numerical disadvantage.

Wood said: "As a striker you've just got to keep going because there's always going to be another chance.

"It was a bit of a frustrating one and against ten men we could perhaps have done a bit more. But I think if the goal had come earlier in the half, we would have gone on to win it.

"We have to keep working and finding ways of breaking people down and we will be on to a winner. Six unbeaten is a fantastic record, which is something we'll look to build on next weekend."

Carroll, having spent so much of his West Ham career fighting for fitness, tossed away his latest chance as two yellow cards in the space of 99 seconds condemned him to an early exit.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche suggested the second booking had a sense of inevitability from the sidelines.

He said: "It's fair to say he was moving at a fair velocity from a distance. I think everyone in the stadium thought he was going to make a big challenge.

"I've been a player and you can get locked in the moment and you can't pull yourself out.

"I actually think there's a lack of honest physicality in the league at times – but that second one is possibly a straight red. I think he'll know. It's a definite sending-off, the ref had no choice."

Burnley's six-match unbeaten Premier League run means they sit just in front of Liverpool inside the top ten.

Yet with expectations on the rise internally and externally, Dyche was in no mood to make merry over a point rescued against the clock.

He said: "It's certainly not relief. We deserved to get something and we got something. My only disappointment is giving away a really poor goal.

"It can be difficult against ten men, and we had to keep probing, but I was very pleased with our intensity."
