STUART McCall reckons more new deals could be on offer if City continue to impress.

Centre halves Matt Kilgallon and Nathaniel Knight-Percival face Bury tomorrow on the back of extending their current contracts by a further year.

Skipper Romain Vincelot has already committed his future for another season as City look to tie down players early and avoid a repeat of last term when they lost some key names in the summer.

Colin Doyle, Nicky Law and Tony McMahon are all coming out of contract in June and McCall believes the club are proving the incentive is there.

He said: “I’m sure after the two lads signed, the other boys who are up will be looking to extend their deals.

“That will be a discussion in the weeks to come. It’s only natural.

“Last season we had six or eight out (of contract). Come Christmas, there were definitely people at that time in for Mezza (James Meredith) and Marsh (Mark Marshall).

“Talks did get to an initial stage but nothing got followed up.

“We know Killa had an opportunity to go just before the window and we had to give him some assurances, which was right.

“But it will be an on-going process. From my point, as a manager, if you’ve got players in your group that are doing well and you want to extend them then you should try to do it.”

City could have fans at both ends of Gigg Lane again tomorrow as another large travelling support make their way over the Pennines.

McCall is thrilled by the prospect but he also warned fans not to be fooled by the league table. Bury have won just twice but the Bantams boss believes they will improve.

He said: “We have got good momentum and belief inside us at the minute. We know we will be backed by a really good following who will make a lot of noise.

“But there's no guarantees that you are going to go on and win a game and put in a good performance. We know Bury have got threats with (Jermaine) Beckford up front and people saw what Chris Maguire did to us last season with Oxford.

“Bury have had a really disappointing start and I think there's a couple of reasons for that.

“They have had such an overhaul of the squad with so many new players and they have also had a lot of key injuries.

“But they are coming back and I think you will see a different Bury. They are certainly better than their league placing at the moment.

“But there’s a determined feeling in our group.”
