BRADFORD Park Avenue under-19s won their Northern Alliance League match 6-2 against Steeton.

Avenue took the lead inside 15 minutes, a good run from Bradley Oliver setting up Jordan Botwood for a powerful, accurate finish.

On the half-hour mark, Avenue scored a second as a corner from the left dropped into the six-yard box and Oliver pounced.

Steeton pulled one back immediately but Avenue's Callum West was then celebrating as he scored with his first touch, finishing well from Andre Tavernier's cross.

Oliver showed good composure to grab his second of the game but Steeton netted the next.

Avenue's fifth came when an excellent pass from Lewis Johnson found Tavernier, who cleverly went round the keeper and finished.

Johnson was again the creator in the final minute as his long clearance played in West, who finished with an excellent 30-yard lob.

Avenue manager Alex Meechan said: "It was an excellent result with some good goals and it shows the progress we have all made in these past 12 months."

In the Flexible Football West Riding County FA Under-21 League, Thackley lost 4-0 at Harrogate Town.

Thackley joint-manager Nathan Priestley said: "Two early mistakes and a miscommunication between Jake Boyd and our goalkeeper Peter Harland gave Harrogate the perfect start when they raced into a 2-0 lead within the first 15 minutes.

"We were off the pace, our possession wasn't good enough and we made costly mistakes in defence."

Silsden played the first home match of their under-21 campaign and were defeated 3-0 by Knaresborough Town.

Brighouse Town also lost on their travels as Yorkshire Amateur inflicted a 2-0 defeat.

The hosts dominated the opening 20 minutes and Town were lucky to only be a goal behind.

Yet the second half was completely different as Brighouse changed their formation and dominated but missed several chances – including a penalty by Jack Harrison, whose effort crashed against the bar.

Town then got caught on the break and conceded a second breakaway goal.

Brighouse assistant manager Barry Thomas said: "Despite the fact that we lost, we can still take a lot of positives, especially from our performance in the second period."
