HANGING Heaton will be hoping to crown their season by winning the Yorkshire Premier League play-offs.

Having already won The All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League title and the league’s T20 Cup, the Bennett Lane outfit would love to put a third piece of silverware in the trophy cabinet

But to achieve that goal they face the prospect of two tough games at Headingley.

First, they have to beat York in Saturday’s semi-final and that won’t be easy as the Yorkshire League North champions have Yorkshire batsman Jack Leaning and young all-rounder Matthew Waite in their line-up.

And if they are successful they will take on the winners of the other semi-final between holders Wakefield Thornes and Great Ayton which is being played at Scarborough on Sunday.

Hanging Heaton cricket chairman, John Carruthers, said: “York are a proven side who have had a lot of success over a number of years.

“They have a strong batting line-up and two good spinners, but we have played some good cricket this year and are looking forward to the game.

“Being in the play-offs and playing at Headingley is a bonus for the club, Many of our players haven’t played at the ground so it should be a great experience for them.”

Hanging Heaton will be hoping their prolific opening pair of Gary Fellows and Nick Connolly can continue the rich form they have shown this season while left-arm spinner Muhammad Rameez will be a key member of their bowling attack.

The winners of Saturday's matches will go forward to the final at Headingley on Sunday, hoping to win the White Rose Trophy.
