ALBION Sports will spend tomorrow making final preparations for their weekend fixture as they host Ashton Athletic in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s Lions were handed home advantage against the Hallmark Security League Premier Division outfit for the second qualifying round tie but their landlords at Throstle Nest, Farsley Celtic, have a home fixture in the Evo-Stik Premier Division tomorrow.

It is the first time Albion have reached this stage in the world’s oldest knockout competition and if they’re looking for a psychological edge it could come from their last-round win as they beat Ashton’s league counterparts Barnoldswick Town.

However, Ashton beat Evo-Stik League Division One North outfit Bamber Bridge in the last round and also reached this stage last season when they lost to FC Halifax Town.

Albion’s Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division rivals Thackley face a tough league game as they host Bridlington Town.

The Dennyboys and Brid were title-chasing rivals last term but tomorrow sees 11th-placed Thackley looking for the win that will see them leapfrog seventh-placed Brid who have played two games more.

In the lower tier third-placed Campion host lowly Glasshoughton Welfare. The visitors are 19th after taking just one point per game from their first six league games.

Eccleshill United, who are ninth, face a much sterner test as they travel to the side immediately above them. The Eagles head to newcomers East Yorkshire Carnegie, who were beaten 3-2 at Campion in midweek.

Silsden have had a dream start to their season and they will be looking to extend their 100 per cent record in all competitions tomorrow.

The Cobbydalers are top of the Hallmark Security League Division One after seven games and are gearing up for an away tie in the FA Vase second qualifying round a week tomorrow.

However, player manager Danny Forrest (pictured left) will have his men fully focused for this weekend’s visit of Cheadle Town. The Cheshire outfit are currently in sixth place and will be looking to claim a scalp.
