FARSLEY Celtic renew their rivalry with Lancaster City tonight as the newly-promoted clubs meet for a Roses battle at Throstle Nest for the first time in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division.

The clubs slugged it out for the Division One North crown last term and, in a race that went right to the wire, Lancaster pipped the Celts to the title on the last day of the campaign by just one point.

The clubs have adapted well to life in the top tier, with both being unbeaten three games in.

Farsley are second, having won two and drawn one, while the Dolly Blues are two points adrift of the Celts after two draws and one victory.

Adam Lakeland’s men won 2-1 at Halesowen at the weekend, while Lancaster drew 1-1 at Mickleover Sports.

Farsley have played only one game at home so far and won it.

Lancaster have only played one away game so far and won it, so it promises to be a close contest.

Liversedge will be flying high as they host Garforth Town in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division tonight.

Jonathan Rimmington’s men progressed in the FA Cup at the weekend with a 3-2 victory at higher-ranking Ramsbottom United.

The Evo-Stik Division One North outfit were strong favourites and twice took the lead, but Sedge pegged them back and won the preliminary- round tie with a last-minute Roy Fogarty goal.

Sedge have played only two league games this term - half as many as tonight’s visitors - but they would go above Garforth with a win by a margin of two goals or more.

The club are using tonight’s game for a second bid to break their record attendance with their 'Pack The Clayborn' initiative.

The biggest crowd at Clayborn stands at 986, and Sedge are looking for the magical four-figure attendance.

Last season’s attempt saw 609 people through the gate as they hosted Bridlington Town.

Albion Sports also won through to the first qualifying round in the FA Cup and they are also looking to back that up with a win in the league.

They travel to Pontefract Collieries tonight.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s Lions would leapfrog Ponte with a win but the home side will be keen to bounce back after their FA Cup exit.

Ponte were beaten 2-1 at home by Ramsbottom’s league rivals Skelmersdale United.
