THACKLEY stayed among the early leaders in the top tier of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League with a thumping home win.

The Dennyboys had Joe Hughes to thank as he netted his first hat-trick for the club to help them to a 4-0 win over Barton Town, with the hosts winning both halves 2-0.

Mike Garrod broke the deadlock midway through the first half, and Hughes added his first seven minutes before the interval.

Hughes was on target again just after the hour, and again seven minutes from time.

It was a bad day for the area’s two representatives in Division One though as Campion lost at home, while Eccleshill United suffered a heavy defeat away.

Campion hosted Knaresborough Town, and the North Yorkshire outfit took an early lead through Blaine Hobson before Sam Cooke struck on the brink of half-time to claim a 2-0 win and end James Bicknell’s side’s unbeaten start.

Eccleshill suffered their second defeat of the season as they went down 3-1 at Selby Town.

Following a goalless first half, Tom Hullock and Brad Freer struck early to see the home side into a two-goal lead by the 47th minute.

Ben Hardy pegged one back for the Eagles, but their comeback attempt was scuppered late on as Liam Flanagan added the home side’s third.

Silsden faced a long trip in Hallmark Security League Division One as they headed to Carlisle City, but the journey home was a happy one after a 1-0 win.

Niall Sultan grabbed the Cobbydalers’ winner just before the break to keep Danny Forrest’s side’s 100 per cent start intact.

Farsley Celtic maintained their unbeaten start in the Evo-Stik Premier Division with a 2-1 win at Halesowen Town.

The Celts hit their hosts with a quick one-two just before the half-hour as Nathan Cartman opened the scoring before captain James Walshaw  netted Farsley’s second.

The home side’s late consolation came from substitute Roland Jones with a little over three minutes remaining.
