IT IS going to take some time for Josh Rickett to come down from the Bulls' nail-biting victory at Oldham.

The young winger was again entrusted with a starting spot and repaid head coach Geoff Toovey by grabbing his first-ever try for the senior side.

That score set Bradford on the way to a welcome 20-16 triumph – and delighted the Bulls supporters in attendance at Bower Fold.

"It really was a great moment, especially when you score in front of your own fans," said Rickett.

"It was at the right end of the pitch for them and I could hear them all cheering as I touched it down. You can't beat that feeling.

"It was a great pass from Keyesy (Joe Keyes), their winger shot off his line and there was loads of space for me. So it was just a case of catching the ball and getting across the line.

"It meant a lot to me, especially as we went on to win. It was my first try of the year as well, so I definitely needed to get over for one."

Rickett's opener helped the Bulls storm into a 20-0 lead before the Roughyeds roared back to within four points. It required some determined second-half defending to ensure the visitors could celebrate a rare away victory.

Odsal youngster Rickett said: "Even though it's come so late in the season, the win gave us a massive buzz. It's still a win at the end of the day and gave all the players and fans something to cheer.

"It was all down to hard graft and everyone working for each other. That was the main thing – no-one slacked off and thankfully we got over the line."
