STEETON kicked off their West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division season with a bang, defeating visitors DRAM Community 6-0.

Lower Hopton, having seen their manager and many of last season's championship-winning side move to other teams, slipped up 2-1 at home to newly-promoted Wibsey.

Salts took an early lead at home to Golcar United through Richard Mason and Caine Alexander, only for Callum Meade (2) and Alex Hallam to give the visitors a 3-2 success.

Littletown, who finished fourth last season, started off this campaign with a 3-2 win at Honley.

Joe Jagger (2) and Mat Bugg netted for Littletown, while Dylan Brett and James Clapham were on target for Honley.

Four of the promoted clubs from Division One were in opposition.

Thornton United, who were champions, started their first season in the top flight with a 4-2 success at Britannia Sports.

Luke Hepton, Marcus Davey, John Selby and Kyle Leighton-Bingham were on target in the first half before strikes from Nicky Kitson and Kieran Lenihan made the scoreline respectable.

Route One Rovers were at Wakefield City for their opener, and had Danyal Yasin on target with a hat-trick in their 3-1 victory.

There were goal galore in Division One.

Newcomers UNITA showed little mercy to Bradford, who were trounced 8-0.

Paul Robinson Wilson (3), Nicky Lasousis (2), Andy Welsh, Junior Duemen and Devonte Fleary Gale were on target.

Ovenden West Riding, returned to the league after a season out, started with a 6-0 trouncing of Tingley Athletic, John Booth (3), Martin Woodhouse, Scott Eastwood and Andy Butterworth scoring.

Steeton's reserve side matched their senior side by scoring six – this time at Golcar United Reserves – with Brannan Lawn (3), Greig Hudson, Will Knight and Jack Richards on target.

TVR United and Salts Reserves, who finished in the first two places in last season's Division Two, met in their opener, with Salts running out 3-2 victors.

Andy Sadowskyj (2) and Nathan Hartley scored for Salts Reserves, with Arran Abbas and Danny Hussain hitting the target for TVR.

West Horton had a 2-1 home victory against Overthorpe SC, who were relegated at the end of last season.

Ryan Sansom and Mohaib Anjam netted for West Horton, with Steve Jordan getting the consolation.

* Campion Under-21s won the SCAR (Sports Campaign Against Racism) Bradford Summer Cup after beating St Bede's 3-1 in the final at Horsfall Stadium.

Campion, who had a man sent off in the first half, still took the lead, but St Bede's equalised in the last five minutes, only for Campion to win it with two late goals.
