THE Bulls must conquer the worst away record in the Championship to make a decent fist of the Bottom Eights.

Geoff Toovey’s men will find out this morning who will be first up in the Qualifiers, which begin the weekend after next.

The Championship Shield fixtures were delayed by 24 hours by the RFL for “operational issues”, likely to involve Toulouse’s involvement and scheduling away trips for part-time clubs.

The opening games are announced today, with the make-up of the remaining six revealed on Monday.

Having finished bottom, Bulls have to play four of their seven games away from Odsal and are expected to start on the road.

But they won only once on their travels in the regular season – and that was the second away game in February against Swinton.

Despite getting huge travelling support, no team picked up fewer away points in the competition.

“The fans have been unbelievable,” admitted hooker Vila Halafihi. “They travel brilliantly in numbers so we’ve got to look at ourselves.

“We’ve come close in a few games but close isn’t good enough.

“We’re scratching as much as we can to get that win. We’re working until the last minute, the last second and trying to get that performance.

“The desire is there but unfortunately there are just others bits that aren’t.”

The Bulls must travel to Oldham, Dewsbury, Swinton and Sheffield in the Eights; Rochdale, Batley and fifth-placed Toulouse all have to come to Odsal.

But Toovey will be able to call on Mikolaj Oledzki’s services for the full competition. His loan from Leeds will mean he is tied down at Odsal until the end of the season along with Rhinos team-mate Cameron Smith.
