WITH their first team entertaining new Premier League outfit Huddersfield Town, Curzon Ashton sent a representative team to face Eccleshill United, and the Eagles tore the young visitors apart.

Marcus Edwards began the demolition with a quickfire double around the half-hour mark, and Jonathan Irving weighed in with a first-half brace of his own.

Andy Cooper and Chris Lever were on target after the break before the Nash pegged a goal back.

Eccleshill skipper Sam Bradley netted his side’s seventh and, although Nash hit back again, Lever hit his second as the Eagles ran out comfortable 8-2 winners.

There was also a victory for Silsden but their 4-2 win came at the expense of Albion Sports.

The Cobbydalers were 3-1 up at half-time before Kulwinder Sandhu’s Lions upped their performance to draw the second half.

It was not a good homecoming for former Silsden player and manager James Gill as he continues his playing comeback with Albion.

Kyle Hancock opened and closed Silsden’s scoring, with goals from Mateus Tomas and Arley Barnes making up the tally.

Trialist Redmond Lee and Chris Fairhurst scored for Sandhu’s side, with the manager saying: “We had five trialists playing and we just weren’t at the races, but that’s what pre-season is all about - experimenting.”

Brighouse Town had a tough day at the seaside as they edged a tight game at Bridlington Town 2-1.

Vill Powell’s side had one trialist in the starting line-up and six more on a bench of seven substitutes.

They went in front in first-half stoppage time when a ball whipped into the area appeared to go in off Brid defender Fraser Papprill, but it was awarded to Gabriel Johnson.

Johnson doubled Brighouse’s lead inside the last 20 minutes but the home side hit back almost immediately through Jake Day.

Campion romped to victory over local football club Sherburn White Rose.

James Bicknell’s men were 4-1 winners, with goals from Danny Brown, Danny Stoker, Talent Ndlovu and Leon Hurlesbrook.

Thackley were beaten 2-1 at home by Evo-Stik Division One North outfit Ossett Town, with all three goals coming in the first half.

A James Eyles brace put the visitors in a strong position before Luke Richardson halved the deficit just after the half-hour.

Liversedge lost at home to Northern League side Newton Aycliffe.

The visitors raced into a 2-0 lead with goals from Aaron Brown and Jack Oliver inside the opening quarter-hour.

Sedge hit back through a trialist before the break but a late Stuart Banks strike gave the visitors a 3-1 win.
