SALEM Athletic have reached the final of the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League's H Broadbent Trophy for the seventh consecutive season.

They convincingly beat Allerton by 126 runs in the semi-final after scoring 270-7 off their 40 overs, with Tahir Rashid scoring 57 and Mohammed Hamdan 54.

In reply, Allerton were all out for 144, with Sohail Shah hitting 56 and Mehr Sultan taking 6-21.

Salem will now face Cambing, who defeated Girlington by one wicket to reach the final after a 12-year gap.

Girlington won the toss and chose to bat in a game that see-sawed one way and the other.

They made a flying start, racing to 68-2 after 11 overs, with Rashid Mahmood scoring 32 and Haroon Rashid 35.

However, Cambing came back into it, and after 18 overs the score was 85-6.

Girlington then recovered and were in trouble again at 128-8 before a powerful innings from Imran Ali (38no) helped them to 182.

Cambing were struggling on 18-2 after seven overs and 33-4 after 12 but two 50 partnerships helped them recover to 140-6 after 27 overs.

Majid Ali (106no) featured in both partnerships and was the star of the show, holding firm with the tail around him to see his side through to the final, smashing a six off the first ball of the 35th over to put Cambing through.

The final will be at Manningham Mills' Scotchman Road ground on Sunday, July 30 (2pm).
