IF WE can get on a run of three or four wins on the bounce in the T20 Blast, starting against Birmingham at Headingley tomorrow, I reckon we'll be nearly qualified for the quarter-finals.

We've made an okay start with a win and two one-pointers from our first four game, and it's still quite tight in the group.

I think there are a few teams who have made similar starts to ourselves and we still have ten games to play.

It's probably fair to say the rain-affected tie against Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford on Friday was a disappointment for everyone, not least the near-20,00 crowd.

Lancashire got away from us a bit in the power play but we stuck at it well, kept our heads well and showed a lot of bottle to keep them to a target of 174.

Then it was a bit tricky with the weather in our chase.

With the batting line-up we have, we would have backed ourselves to get that if we'd kept wickets in hand going into the last five overs.

We know if we keep teams to 160 or 170 most weeks, we should knock them off eight or nine times out of ten.

The rain made an impact on some of our cricket but I think we were going okay.

We thought the game should have been stopped earlier than it was. But whatever happened, we were still very positive that we were going to chase the runs.

It was obviously hard for the umpires in that situation, though I would like to see a little bit more communication from them in those kind of situations.

If they can, at the start of one of the overs, it would be good for them to say to the players: 'If it's still raining like this at the end of the over, we're coming off. This is what you need to be'.

At least then, both teams know what they need to do to win the game. That didn't happen.

We were a bit unsure about whether we'd be playing through the rain all the time or whether we'd come off in ten minutes or 20 minutes. You just need that clarity on the field so the players know what's happening.

I won't hide from the fact that it's been frustrating not playing in the T20s so far this season – but that's natural. Every player wants to play and gets disappointed when they're not.

I've just got to remain patient, keep doing the right thing around the lads, helping out and hopefully my chance will come at some point.

I certainly understand the reasons why I'm not playing and why other players have been picked.

If I do get that opportunity, I've got to try and show what I can do and emulate that season two years ago when things went so well.

The wet weather last week did at least enable me to get a game in for the second team against Northamptonshire at York.

I was with the first team for the T20 at Northampton on Tuesday night, which got rained off, and so did the first day of the seconds. That meant I could be selected for the final two days on Wednesday and Thursday.

I felt I bowled really well, got 5-55 from 25 overs in the game and was happy with how it came out.

I know my time will come in the first team. I've just got to take my chance when it does, like a number of the other lads in our squad have.
