BRIGHOUSE Sports made it a Yorkshire Parks cup double last Sunday when their A team won the Brotherton Cup while their B team won the Wood Cup.

The finals, which took place in the Heavy Woollen district, saw eight teams in each competition.

Brighouse Sports A started with a comfortable 142-115 quarter-final win over Asa Briggs A, followed by an even easier 156-106 semi-final win over Rufford Park.

In the final, Brighouse started as underdogs against Pudsey, who had beaten Eccleshill and Spen Victoria A to make it through.

Pudsey made the better start as they lead by 20 chalks after four jacks, thanks to Ian Shaw 21-6 and Josh Mordue 21-9, despite a great 21-6 from Andrew Tate for Brighouse.

Hedley Kettlewell, with a great 21-9, started the fightback for Brighouse.

With Brighouse carding the last three winners, they pipped Pudsey 133-130 to become Brotherton Cup Champions.

Not to be outdone, Brighouse Sports B defeated Harold Park 158-126 in the final of the Wood Cup, thanks to impressive wins from John Horsley 21-6, Helen Simpson 21-9 and Dale Dyson 21-9.

THE finals of the Spen Valley Pairs and Spen Valley Merit took place at Heckmondwike last Sunday, with Gary Ammat and Mark Barlow (Ossett Flying Hourse) winning the Spen Valley Pairs after defeating Tom Lawrence and Andy Hodgson (Pudsey) 21-18 in the final.

Gary Foulkes (Ossett Flying Horse) won the Spen Valley Merit after defeating Mark Allman (Littlemoor) 21-11 in the final.

THE Yorkshire Cup, Henry Taylor Cup, Eric Hutchinson Memorial Trophy and The Derrick Radley Cup reach the quarter finals stage on Saturday. Crossgates and Clayton Victoria are the only remaining Bradford League teams left in the Yorkshire Cup – Crossgates take on Thongsbridge A at Hove Edge, while Clayton Victoria will fancy their chances against Meltham at Outwood WMC.

Favourites Lower Hopton WMC take on Crosland Moor A at Crowghyll Park. Ladyhill have been removed from the Hutchinson due to a rule infringement, so Clayton Victoria will take their place in the quarter-final draw.
