JOE Keyes knows the Bulls need to forget about the league table and concentrate on winning games.

The Bulls, who visit West Yorkshire rivals Halifax on Sunday, are ten points adrift of safety in the Kingstone Press Championship with only 11 games – including the Championship Shield – to play.

Keyes, whose half-back partner Jordan Lilley was recalled by parent club Leeds Rhinos yesterday afternoon, says there is little point in worrying about the mathematics of the situation.

He is also wary of the possible backlash from Halifax after they suffered a shock 13-12 defeat at struggling Swinton Lions last weekend.

Keyes said: "Getting to zero points is the 'monkey' off our back. Everyone has been talking about that and we can put that past us now.

"But I don't think we can afford to look at the league table too much. We just have to win as many games as possible, keep the vibe good in the camp and keep on moving forward.

"We wouldn't be trying if we didn't believe in ourselves but we have got to take it week by week and crack on."

The Bulls were beaten 22-12 when Halifax visited Odsal in April and Keyes recalled: "It was wet and dark and it could have gone either way.

"It was a very close game. Having lost at the weekend, they will be looking for a reaction, so it's important that we match that."

Reflecting on last weekend's victory over Oldham, which ended a sequence of nine consecutive defeats for the Bulls, Keyes said: "It was just what we needed.

"A performance like that had been a lot time coming and we probably should have done it a few weeks ago.

"We dominated the whole way through, we defended our line with pride, and it was miles better than it has been for the last few weeks.

"After the disappointment of the Rochdale result, we had a deep look into video and discussed the areas we needed to improve.

"We spoke about our togetherness and how important it was to 'battle it up'. We buzzed up and created our own energy and that showed off in the scoreline."

Lilley, meanwhile, has been named in a 19-man Leeds squad for tomorrow night's Super League clash with St Helens at Headingley.

He is likely to replace Danny McGuire, who was charged with using grade C foul language to a match official and could be banned for three games.
