METHLEY boosted their All Rounder Cricket Bradford League Championship One promotion chances by bringing an end to leaders Scholes' impressive nine-match winning start to the season.

They successfully defended their total of 177 to secure a 17-run win. The key man in their eighth victory of the campaign was Dan Shuffe. He made a crucial 69 to hold his side's innings together after the loss of early wickets to Yassir Shah (3-25)

Scholes found runs weren't easy to come by and were dismissed for 160. Marcus Walmsley took the bowling honours.

Third-placed Methley are 21 points adrift of Scholes and six behind Wrenthorpe who ran up the biggest score of the day as they defeated Yeadon by 102 runs to bag maximum points.

The experienced duo of Damon Gormley (67) and James Goldthorp (66) hit half-centuries as Yeadon were bowled out for 226. Left-armers Jonathan Rudge (4-42) and Matthew Race (4-33) did the damage

Overseas player Khalid Usman was the pick of the Ossett bowlers with 5-60, and it was another spinner – Morley's David Nebard (4-62) – who helped put the pressure on the home side in their innings.

Opening bowler Matthew Dowse (3-46) backed him up as Ossett were dismissed for 195. Paul Malone made the top score of 66 while Naveed Sayeed chipped in with 39.

Undercliffe were indebted once again to Zeeshan Qasim as they edged home by one wicket against Gomersal at Intake Road.

Zeeshan Haider took 5-46 as Bowling Old Lane bowled out bottom team Birstall to complete a 21-run win.

Eric Austin (43) and Nick Kaye (30) fought hard but they lacked support as their side were dismissed for 104 in response to Bowling Old Lane's modest 125.

Asif Ayub (52) and Hisan Ahmed (37) were the only Bankfoot batsman to look at ease. Baildon eased to their target thanks to another half-century from Jonny Reynolds (52). He was assisted by Mounam Ejaz (36) and Chris Reynolds (35).
