BULLS boss Geoff Toovey insists any Australian reinforcements will be ready to hit the ground running.

As revealed in the T&A last week, Bradford's hunt for new signings has extended to the southern hemisphere.

And while that search for new additions has yet to bear fruit, Toovey says the club are homing in "one or two" of their targets.

With only 12 games remaining for the Bulls to preserve their Championship status, any Aussie recruits will need to able to join the survival bid immediately.

Visa delays – similar to the one the head coach experienced this season – are most definitely not an option.

"Nothing has moved on that I'm aware of," commented Toovey ahead of tomorrow's crunch clash with Oldham at Odsal.

"I think that we may be closer on one or two people but I wouldn't want to jump the gun there.

"Hopefully we will have some news in the next week or two but it's something that I can't divulge at this stage because it's not a certainty by any means.

"There are Australian guys but I also believe that the players we're looking at have some sort of visa or some heritage here, so that would make things a lot more convenient for us.

"We're short, so it is a matter of timing and speed of transition – that's obviously important – so it's a combination of those things that we need to make sure the player's got lined up."

While that pursuit of overseas signings continues in the background, Toovey is hopeful that victory over Oldham could provide a much-needed shot of confidence for his squad.

"There's one or two older heads in our squad but the overwhelming majority are young, inexperienced guys," he said.

"Realistically, they just have to learn by experience and it has been a tough year for them so far.

"So confidence is down a bit and it's very hard to manufacture that – it's like respect, you've got to earn confidence.

"There's no one particular player you can look towards to address that. Scott Moore is probably the most experienced player in the team. He's been doing his best over the last few months but it's wearing him down as well.

"We need a spark. I thought it was there with a player like Dane Chisholm coming in but unfortunately he's been injured and out for quite a while, so that was deflating for the players as well.

"Whilst they are a young and inexperienced side, they're an enthusiastic side and ready to learn.

"So hopefully they'll be taking on board this emotional pain they're going through and do what we need to turn it around. You can't manufacture experience."
