GEOFF Toovey admits that a league restructure could be "great" for the Bulls – but he certainly isn't counting on it.

With Bradford ten points adrift of the pack in the Kingstone Press Championship with 12 games remaining, the club's on-field chances of beating the drop are hanging by a thread.

However, it is understood that a league meeting on Monday will discuss the prospect of restructuring all three divisions of the professional game ahead of the 2018 campaign.

Expanding both Super League and the Championship to 14 teams is believed to be an option – and one that could see the Bulls remain in the second tier even if they finish bottom this season.

On the prospects of a restructure, Toovey said: "I've heard the rumours and it would obviously be great for the Bulls.

"I've only been here for five minutes really in a rugby league lifespan and it would be wrong of me to comment on the system itself, but it is very hard to play in, configure and invest in a team when you don't know whether you're up or down. That's true even for long-term plans.

"So the system they've got here does make it difficult but that's the system and I'm still trying to get my head around all those processes and procedures in regards to relegation and promotion, and also in regards to loan players and all those types of issues."

On how he can affect on-field matters, Toovey added: "The quick fix is obviously to try to get some players in, but at this stage we're just working as hard as we can to get the best out of the players we've got."
