WRENTHORPE bounced back from their league and cup defeats of the previous week as they defeated old rivals Methley to go above them into second place in All Rounder Cricket Bradford League Championship One.

Wrenthorpe set up the victory by making 200-9 with James Glynn (45), skipper Greg Wood (43) and Matt Holstein (36) all chipping in.

Matthew Lumb (3-41) and Marcus Walmsley (3-50) were the best of the Methley bowlers.

Methley were unable to get going in their innings. Ashton Blakey made 35, but his colleagues faltered as they were bowled out for 132 to lose by 68 runs. Kiwi Holstein took 3-17 and Glynn (3-48).

Wrenthorpe are 28 points behind Scholes who reeled off their eighth win in eight games. They defeated Morley by 88 runs with their overseas player Akbar Badshah making the top score of 68 in their total of 190.

Opener Shoukat Ali (40) was the other main scorer before the last seven wickets fell for 35 runs. Morley skipper Oliver Halliday (4-13) and Matthew Dowse (3-42) sparked the slide.

Morley's fragile batting was exposed as Gareth Lee (3-15) and Yassir Ali (3-32) helped bowl them out for 102.

Undercliffe climbed above Morley into fourth place with a 17-run win over improving Ossett.

Opener Ben Whitford batted throughout the 45 overs of the Undercliffe innings for a unbeaten 90. Overseas player Anas Mahmood supported him with 38 in a total of 203-5.

Spinner Khalid Usman was the pick of the Ossett bowlers as he took 3-44 and followed up by emerging as top scorer with 46 of their 186 all out. Opening bowler Zeeshan Qasim picked up 3-66 for Undercliffe.

Yeadon were the day's quickest winners as they romped to a nine-wicket victory over Baildon.

The star of their success was opening bowler Tom Cordon. He destroyed the Baildon innings with 7-45 as they were bowled out for 112. Jack Hainsworth top scored with 38.

Yeadon cruised to their target with openers James Todd (42no) and Jake Wray (41) leading the way.

Gomersal's opening bowler Joel Pollard took season's best figures of 6-31 as his side dismissed Bowling Old Lane for 136.

His efforts proved to be in vain because rain forced the game to be abandoned with Gomersal struggling on 31-4. Khalid Bilal made an unbeaten 46 for Old Lane and had figures of 3-17 when the rain came.

It was a similar soggy picture at Bankfoot where the highlight of their abandoned game with Birstall was the stunning hitting of Peiris Prangige. He hit ten sixes and one four in an unbeaten 98 which was scored off just 47 balls.

Prangige's innings enabled Bankfoot to recover from 93-9 to make 181. He dominated a last-wicket stand of 88 with Uwaise Mahmood who made just eight. Opening bowler Charlie Orme impressed for Birstall with 5-26.

Birstall were 100-4 from 15.1 overs when play was abandoned. with Ian Carradice scoring 52.
