WITH leaders Beckwithshaw facing Guiseley and Burley, two of their closest Aire-Wharfe League rivals, the next two weeks could well decide if this season's Division One championship is going to be a one-horse race.

So far Alex Lilley's side have looked unstoppable, last week mounting a successful 30-over run chase and hitting 7.5 per over to beat the fading light and second-placed Bilton to open up a 12-point lead.

That allowed Burley, who they meet next week, to climb to second, while tomorrow's visitors Guiseley took over third spot by crushing Rawdon.

Marcus Brown's 5-46 knocked over Rawdon for 81, the second time Guiseley have dismissed a side very cheaply, and while they will not find Beckwithshaw anything like as fragile, this represents the best chance so far to dent the leaders' procession towards the title.

Meanwhile, Burley should stay hot on the heels of Beckwithshaw by overcoming Rawdon.

Among the sides needing the pace-setters' charge to be halted are Otley and Pool, who have both recovered form after a shaky start and look ready to get in the mix if allowed the chance.

With David Paynter heading the season's batting stats on 354 runs, including two centuries, and David Amos high in the bowling figures, Pool should make short work of rock-bottom North Leeds, who were bowled out for just 38 by Collingham last week.

Otley travel to Horsforth, a side hovering too close to the relegation zone for comfort. Ilkley are also only a few points clear of the bottom two and tomorrow's opponents Colton are the kind of side they need to beat if they are to work their way clear.

Since their opening-day defeat by Skipton, Ben Rhydding have looked impressive in a run of wins that has lifted them to just behind Division Two leaders Adel.

Teams are still well bunched – only 20 points between Ben Rhydding and ninth-placed Tong Park Esholt – and this weekend's opponents Leeds Modernians are among the strongest.

After overcoming high-flying Kirkstall, Calverley now take on Adel, while Hall Park – last week's other giant-killers – have another tough opponent in Follifoot.

It is hard to see struggling Thackley stopping fourth-placed Steeton making it three wins out of three and it will be a major upset if Addingham ease their relegation worries against Kirkstall.

Tong Park Esholt entertain Skipton, with both sides hovering just above the danger zone.

There is no doubting the match of the day in Division Three as leaders Saltaire travel to third-placed Harden, with both sides having discovered match-winning overseas players in Hammad Ul Hassan and Alex Antoine.

Among those cheering Harden on will be Olicanian, who should be too strong for Alwoodley and be in with a chance of taking over at the top of the table.

Having been skittled out for 87 by Harden last week, Green Lane will be looking for a better performance at New Rover, who will be confident after finally notching their first win.

Sunday sees the second round of the Waddilove Cup, with Otley and Horsforth going head to head for the second time this weekend but this time at Brownberrie Lane.

There is an intriguing tie at Burley, where Saltaire are the visitors, and if you are looking for giant-killings, Bardsey might be a threat to Addingham and Harden could cause an upset at Ilkley.
