IN A week when Ramadhan started, Darulshafa tasted defeat for the first time in the Premier Section of the Quaid-e-Azam Sunday League.

They set defending champions Keighley RZM a target of 233, thanks to Sayed Hashmi (97no) and wicket-keeper Naik Zada (55).

However, RZM's star batsmen Gulsheraz Ahmed (88), who put on 99 for the first wicket with Waleed Akhtar gave Keighley a four-wicket victory, ending Darulshafa's four-game winning run.

Farrukh Alam was the only centurion in the Premier Section, his 105 being exactly half of Kashmir Dewsbury's 210-9 against bottom side Flix, who replied with 152 and are still searching for their first victory of the season.

White Rose had a winning draw against Raja after making 215 (Ansar Mahmood 53), Raja replying with 186-8 (Faisal Javed 69, Jahanzeb Hussain 4-45).

Kamran Hussain (4-23 and 59) helped Bhalot Strikers to a seven-wicket victory over Heaton Park, who only made 113 (Sohail Butt 50).

Strikers, who have now had five straight wins, are joint top of the table with RZM.

Onq (159) had an easy win against My Lahore (49).

In Section A, Bilal Ejaz's marvellous innings of 171 not out gave Bradford Moor a more than solid 273-8.

Indus Ghari replied well with 206-7, with Mohammed Rehan unbeaten on 79 to gain a losing draw.

Meanwhile, Karmand are off the mark, chiefly thanks to Adil Islam's 106 out of 244-9.

TABS replied with 191, with Sajid Ali taking 4-46.

Punjab moved into second after defeating Earlmarshall by 35 runs.

Qamar Shazad (65) boosted Punjab to 179, Earlmarshall making 144 (Mohammed Akmal 62, Imran Malik 4-21).

Diamond made it five consecutive league wins by seeing off Shaheen (161-9) by four wickets, with Ijaz Ahmed making 67 for the winners.

Rising Stars are up to third after a three-wicket triumph over Azad, who were dismissed for 131.

Kashmir Bradford have handed Style CC their first defeat of the season, making Section B more competitive.

Kashmir are now one of four teams jointly at the top of table, thanks to Hamzah Iqbal's fine 40 out of 141, his 4-16 leaving Style 31 runs short.

There was a close game between EAM and Yorkshire Lions, with the former making 253 (Aftab Khan 106, Amjid Hussain 51).

Lions fought hard in their reply, with Akash Rangzeb scoring 96, but they could only total 230.

Bradford Royals are also joint top after a 126-run victory over Patriots, inspired by Tanvir Bashir's 75 out of 217.

Green Stars had a five-wicket victory over Central Leeds, who were all out for 133 (Ibrar Haider 6-24).

Kings XI had an easy win over Chach, who were dismissed for 128 (Mehtab Afzal 5-46), Kashif Hussain's unbeaten 50 giving Kings XI an eight-wicket victory.
