FARSLEY Celtic are in shock after joint bosses John Deacey and Neil Parsley left the club with immediate effect within 24 hours of each other.

Deacey was the first departure on Sunday, and the announcement that Parsley had also left followed yesterday tea-time.

The statements have stunned the supporters and onlookers from rivals clubs as they came on the back of winning the West Riding County Cup and promotion to the Evo-Stik League Premier Division via the play-offs.

Farsley Celtic held their presentation evening on Friday, and both Deacey and Parsley addressed the gathering in the Celts’ clubhouse before and after the awards had been made.

Following yesterday’s shock news, Parsley said: “The decision was made mutually, and that’s all I’m prepared to say on it.

“It hasn’t spoiled the end of season for me because we gained promotion, which was our goal at the start of the season, and that was great for the club, the players, the management and staff and everyone else involved with the club.

“It was a fantastic achievement and I don’t think that this has taken the gloss off it because we all enjoyed the celebrations after a superb season, and the club’s in a great position.”

The Celts will be seeking a successor as they begin a new chapter back on step three of the non-league ladder.

Farsley are just one promotion away from returning to the National League structure.

Parsley confirmed that his and Deacey’s futures are uncertain but was not prepared to divulge the details of their departures.

He said last night: “With the club only announcing the news tonight, I’ve had no thoughts about another club so far.

"My phone has been red hot with a lot of calls from friends in the game and the players.

“The players all know now and they’ve been calling. I won’t speak for John - he had his reasons.

"I’ve spoken with the board since and made my decision and I don’t want to comment any further on that at this stage.”
