ALL Rounder Bradford Premier League Championship One joint leaders Scholes and Methley continued their impressive starts to the season with emphatic victories.

Opener Sam Gatenby (80) and Shoukat Ali (41) led the way as Scholes compiled a total of 264-9. Uwaise Mehmood was the one Bankfoot bowler to impress with 4-52.

Bankfoot were soon in trouble against the bowling of Yassir Ali (5-28) and Andrew Robinson (3-21) as they were bowled out for 63.

Marcus Walmsley was again in good form with both bat and ball for Methley. He took5-31 as Yeadon were bowled out for 146 and made an unbeaten 70 as he and overseas player Muhammad Akhlaq (69no) shared an unbroken opening stand of 147.

Opener Jake Wray (59) was the only Yeadon batsman to impress as they slipped to second from bottom.

Wrenthorpe remain three points behind the joint leaders after another good batting performance set up their 162-run win over Bowling Old Lane.

Skipper Greg Wood (67) and the in-form Luke Patel (60) put on 113 for the third wicket after Andrew Bourke (55) had got the innings off to a good start.

Wrenthorpe’s 287-7 proved to be well beyond Old Lane as they were bowled out for 125. Zeeshan Haider (39) notched as Jonathan Rudge picked up 5-23.

Fourth-placed Undercliffe also recorded their fourth win and are a point behind Wrenthorpe. They were made to work hard for their two-wicket win by a determined Baildon side.

The Jenny Lane outfit made 219-7 when they batted first with skipper Simon Bailey setting a fine example. Bailey struck three sixes and 14 fours in his unbeaten 101.

Jonny Reynolds (63) shared a fourth-wicket alliance of 123 with Bailey as spinner Amir Hussain (4-61) proved to be Undercliffe’s most-successful bowler with 4-61.

Undercliffe were indebted to their overseas player Anas Mahboob for their win.

He hit an unbeaten 92 and was joined in an unbroken ninth-wicket stand of 35 by Craig Wiseman which edged his side home with ten balls to spare. Paceman Waqas Maqsood took 3-55 for Baildon.

Another captain leading the way with a decisive contribution to his side’s success was Morley’s Oliver Halliday.

He hammered four sixes and five fours in a rapid 82 which enabled his side to post a total of 210 and paved the way for a 28-run win over Gomersal. Joel Pollard (3-45) was Gomersal’s best bowler.

Jamie Bloom (49) and Graham Hilton (39) battled hard for Gomersal but their side were restricted to 182-9. Sri Lankan Sangeeth Cooray took 3-37 and Henry Rush (3-43) as Morley prevailed.

Ossett recorded their first win when they defeated Birstall by one-run to net their first victory of the season.

The arrival of overseas player Khalid Usman clearly had an uplifting influence as he scored an unbeaten 54 and followed up by taking 4-38 with his spin bowling.

The foundations for the win were laid down during an opening stand of 100 between Zubair Raje (87) and Harvey Anderson (46).

Birstall's most-successful bowler was last season’s Ossett captain Charlie Orme, who was facing his old club for the first time since his close-season move.

Former New Farnley batsman Rishy Limechaya (71) and Nick Kaye (43) gave impetus to the Birstall innings, but Usman and Paul Malone (3-63) ensured that Ossett took the spoils and left their rivals at the bottom of the table without a win.
