FORMER assistant manager Lee Ashworth insists that he and Paul Quinn had not been head-hunted by another club and they are awaiting their next opportunity after leaving Brighouse Town.

Ashworth revealed he has had a few phone calls about going back into management himself but he wants the pair to stay as a partnership.

He said: "I've also had a few people questioning me about Brighouse Town, what kind of club it is and whether it's a good job, and I've told them – absolutely, it is a great club with great people running it.

"None of them have told me that they're definitely applying or that they've had any contact with the club, so I've got no inside information on who might be on the shortlist, but I'm sure the club will make the right appointment because it's so well run."

Regarding his own future, and that of Quinn, the right opportunity has not yet presented itself and Ashworth accepts that although they might get a club before pre-season, they may have to wait a while longer.

He said: "There's no rush. We're not desperate to get back and take the first offer that comes along. Paul has built up a good reputation, so he can pick his next appointment.

"The next opportunity for Paul, and me, needs to be the right one, so we'll sit and wait until it comes along. We're proud of what we've done at Brighouse and we enjoyed our time there and were well supported by the committee and the fans.

"I played with Paul under his dad Gerry at Liversedge but I finished at Brighouse as a player after a bad facial injury. I went to a couple of other clubs but Brighouse Town was my last serious club as a player, so it'll always be a special place for me."
