PROMOTED Buttershaw St Paul's are setting the early Championship Two pace in the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League.

Saints have opened up a four-point lead after recording a nine-wicket win over Hopton Mills.

Kevin McDermott impressed with the ball as he picked up 5-32 to send Mills sliding to 104, Chris Scott (32) being the top scorer in a disappointing innings.

Opener Jonathan Burston then hit 42 as St Paul's reached their target for the loss of just one wicket.

Things are certainly looking up for second-placed Keighley, who secured a one-wicket win against Altofts with just a ball to spare.

After dismissing Altofts for 207 and getting four extra overs, Keighley made good use of them, skipper Andy Wear setting the tone at the top of the order with 82 and No 9 Nathan Storton seeing them home with a priceless 52.

Defeat was particularly harsh on Altofts all-rounder Farrouk Alam, who made 87 and followed that up with 7-45.

Hartshead Moor were another side to triumph by one wicket to maintain their winning start to the campaign.

Former Yorkshire and Scotland seamer Iain Wardlaw took 4-42 as they dismissed previously unbeaten Northowram Fields for 132.

Moor did not have things all their own way but 30 from opener James Hardcastle helped them to stave off the threat of Ashton Richmond (4-37) and bag the points.

Liversedge's experienced opening pair of Alan Sumner and Mark Hydes got their side off to a fine start as they defeated struggling Brighouse by 133 runs. Sumner hit a six and 13 fours in his 102, while Hydes chipped in with 42.

Positive batting in the middle order from Asif Ali (71) and Paul Marlow (44) led to a total of 293-6, with Brighouse skipper Sunny Matharu claiming 4-90.

Sohail Hussain (40) and Samar Farooq (39) led Brighouse's response as their side were dismissed for 160, with Ali picking up 3-25 to back up his earlier efforts with the bat.

Glen Thompson returned the economical figures of 4-11 in a 12-over spell which helped Hunslet Nelson bowl out Carlton for 92 and secure a 43-run victory.

He was backed up by Derrick Hammill (3-18) as Nelson successfully defended their total of 135, which owed much to Andrew McIntosh's 64. Nick Busby (5-36) and Will Smith (3-29) bowled well for Carlton.

Idle are finding the going tough and Spen Victoria showed no mercy as they bowled them out for 92, with Robert Warriner (5-55) and spinner Danny Cross (4-13) doing the damage.

Opener Evan Edwards (41) ensured that Spen secured a five-wicket win, Deron Greaves taking all the wickets to fall at a cost of 35 runs.
