GUISELEY find themselves in a familiar position going into tomorrow's final game fighting for their National League life – and they will be hoping for the same happy outcome.

The events of 12 months ago, when the Lions defeated Torquay 4-3 on the last day of the season to avoid relegation, should be the perfect motivation for this weekend's Nethermoor clash with Solihull Moors.

Victory will guarantee a third season in the top tier of non-League football and their destiny is in their own hands.

Three points will mean that Guiseley cannot be caught by either Braintree or York, who are currently occupying the final two relegation positions alongside the already doomed pair of North Ferriby and Southport.

But a draw – or, even worse, a defeat – could mean a cruel final twist to a real roller-coaster campaign. It is undoubtedly the biggest test of manager Adam Lockwood's fledgling career.

Injuries sustained to Will Hatfield, Jake Lawlor and Marcus Williams in the 1-1 draw at Bromley, a result which ended a run of three defeats, are an unwelcome problem.

On the plus side, striker Jake Cassidy has now finished his three-match suspension and should be raring to go.

Lockwood has been keen to sound a cautious tone throughout the run-in but he knows this is an occasion where his side have to be on their game.

The manager gave a nod to the importance of the match to the popular Nethermoor outfit as he said: "I would like to see everybody fight for this club first and foremost.

"I would like to think we can get over the line. We have been focused every game but I can be something of a pain and be demanding of the people at the club, to make sure that we do the best we possibly can.

"To be part-time and compete against full-time clubs and teams with bigger resources is impressive."
