A SHOCK 3-1 home defeat for Taylor's Timber West Riding County Amateur League championship contenders Littletown by lowly Honley has thrown the Premier Division title race wide open.

The chasing trio of Newsome, Lower Hopton and Steeton all cashed in with victories.

Goals from Mat Sykes, Mat Lorryman and Callum McLachlan gave Honley their victory, while Littletown striker Joe Jagger pulled one back but will be ruing the chances he missed.

Leaders Newsome were held until half-time by a tight Salts defence before second-half chances were converted by Joel Bryce and Adam Hill for a 2-0 verdict.

Mirfield-based Lower Hopton climbed above Littletown and hosts Golcar United into second place after a 4-2 victory.

A Nathan Alexander treble, backed up by Nathan James' goal, left Lower Hopton in charge in the first half before Simon Thompson and Fraiser Beckett replied after the interval.

A single second-half strike from Elliot Scott gave his Steeton side a 1-0 win at bottom-placed DRAM Community to keep them in contention.

Campion had to settle for a point from their 2-2 draw at home game to Lepton Highlanders.

Jahro Parchment netted both Campion goals, with Jonathon Bullivant and former Campion player Joshua Cooke replying.

Huddersfield-based Britannia Sports could not gain the victory that would have lifted them into second place in Division One, ahead of Thornton United and one point behind leaders Route One Rovers.

Sports were held to a 3-3 draw at Wibsey, with Mark House, Callum Armitage and Jack Murphy on target for the home side and Danny Walker, Nick Kitson and Noel St-Hilaire for the visitors.

Ventus-Yeadon Celtic, who are without a league point since late January, slipped up 5-3 at Wakefield City, while bottom side Hunsworth picked up three points from a 4-2 success at fellow strugglers Tyersal.

Route One Rovers were taken to extra-time in their Division One League Cup semi-final against Thornton United before winning 4-2.

Hassan Ali (2), Danayal Yasin and Waheed Khan were on target for Rovers, while Brendan Maltby supplied both United's goals.

The delayed quarter-final between Golcar United Reserves and West Horton also went to extra-time before Golcar won 4-2.

They will now meet Steeton Reserves, who, progressed with a 4-3 victory at Holmfirth Town thanks to braces from Will Knight and substitute Callum Wear.

TVR United and Lower Hopton Reserves will contest the Division Two League Cup final.

United, who have already secured the league title, moved closer to the double with a 6-0 semi-final victory against Salts Reserves, while Lower Hopton Reserves trounced Tyersal Reserves 11-0.
