BULLS loan star Daniel Murray will not forget the club's weekend victory over Dewsbury Rams in a hurry.

Murray, who celebrated his 21st birthday last week, capped one of the best displays of his professional career with his first try in senior rugby.

He also felt it had been an education to lock horns with Dewsbury prop Mitchell Stringer, one of the most seasoned campaigners in the Championship.

Former Scotland international Stringer, 33, played in Super League a decade ago for Murray's parent club Salford.

If his performance in Sunday's 56-18 victory is anything to go by, it will not be long before young prop Murray is following in his rival's footsteps.

"I will remember the Dewsbury game because it was a fight, a battle, against my opposite number, the No 8 Stringer," said Murray.

"We had a good battle and we were talking in the scrum. I enjoyed it a lot, going toe-to-toe with older blokes."

Although Murray extended his loan stay with the Bulls last week, he openly admits that he now wants to force his way into the plans of Salford coach Ian Watson.

He said: "I don't know Ian's plans but a good display is encouraging. I will just keep doing what I am doing to give me every opportunity to get into the team.

"That's my aim. It's not my choice but I have to put the hard work in."

The Bulls, who were docked 12 points at the start of the season, are now on minus four ahead of forthcoming games against Oldham and Sheffield Eagles.

"Two more wins in the next two weeks is the aim and let's get to zero," said Murray.

"Some teams shy away from it and think their backs are against the walls – but we are going through the wall and relishing the challenge."
