GEOFF Toovey, the Bulls' head coach in waiting, has been linked with the head coach's job at NRL club Wests Tigers.

The Sydney club have parted company with Jason Taylor, and Toovey, who is still waiting for his visa so that he can start work at Odsal, is believed to be on a four-man shortlist at Wests.

The other three men are said to be New South Wales coach Laurie Daley, supposed favourite Penrith coach Ivan Cleary and current interim boss Andrew Webster.

The link with former Manly Sea Eagles boss Toovey came overnight from a prominent newspaper in Australia, and it is understood that the suitability of Cleary, Daley and Toovey for the Tigers job was discussed during a meeting of West's top brass yesterday.
