JOE Lumb admits he is open to the prospect of playing for new dual registration partners Hunslet – but he would much rather get game-time with Bulls.

The young hooker has found his opportunities limited this season since the arrival of the experienced Scott Moore on trial.

But Lumb gave a timely reminder of his ability in the Challenge Cup defeat to Featherstone in what was his first appearance since the second game of the campaign at home to Rochdale.

He said: "I got some good minutes under my belt on Sunday. Hopefully I did enough to impress and can start featuring a lot more as we go forward."

After making his senior debut last year, a knee injury left the West Bowling product on the fringes for much of the campaign.

It has left him itching for action this year and the link-up with League One Hunslet could provide an outlet for Lumb, who was one of four hookers used against Rovers.

On that prospect, he said: "There has been no talk of it yet. It is something to think about going forward if I’m not getting game-time because I need to play but I want to play here rather than Hunslet, so if I can get my opportunities I want to stick around here."

Lumb was encouraged by the performance against Featherstone from one of the youngest Bulls outfit's in memory, though he was not satisfied with the outcome.

He said: "We went toe to toe with them all the way and I thought the scoreline flattered them.

"It was a good display but we still lost and we’re out of the Challenge Cup. The coaching staff said be proud of the performance but it is still a loss, so be hurt by it.

"We want to be singing the winning song in the changing rooms every week, not having good performances and just losing."
